Illegal Parking on Chester Road
On any given day, Chester Road is packed with illegally parked cars.
From Ormonde Street to St Mark’s Road, cars are parked on double yellow lines, fully
mounted on the pavement and often blocking pedestrian crossing points.
Sunderland City Council has failed to get a grip of this problem. There is zero
enforcement - but, according to Labour, Chester Road gets “its fair share” of
traffic warden patrols.
We want to see two bold changes to stop illegal parking on Chester Road:
Erect railings down the footpath so that drivers who park illegally cannot
can easy access to shops.Replace the double yellow lines with double red lines and have enforcement
done by camera.Ask the Council to request that police be given the power to issue PCNs for
illegal parking.
The problem on Chester Road is getting worse - but only the Local Conservatives for
Barnes and Thornhill are doing anything about it.
Sign our petition and tell Sunderland Council: enough is enough, clamp down
on illegal parking on Chester Road now!
